Three Million Safe Miles – Congratulations to Willie Brown

July 25, 2014, was a great day here at the Boyd Bros. Birmingham Terminal. We were blessed to be able to celebrate an outstanding achievement. Mr. Willie Brown, driver of Boyd Bros. truck 8347, celebrated driving three million accident free miles.

Our celebration started with some of our corporate representatives (Wade Gunter, Birmingham Terminal Manager; Ruth Brummitt, Fleet Manager; Jeff Hopkins, Vice President of Operations; Ron Ross, Birmingham Safety Coordinator and Gail Cooper, CEO) saying a few words and giving some company awards and recognitions. Next, Ford Boswell and Time Frazier from the Alabama Trucking Association presented Willie with several gifts and tokens of their appreciation. Also, Mr. Frazier presented Willie with a proclamation from Alabama governor Robert Bentley. After the presentations, Boyd Bros. corporate chaplain, Gaylon Benton blessed the food and everyone enjoyed a great BBQ lunch and some good fellowship. While everyone was still visiting, Birmingham’s local ABC affiliate 33/40 came by to interview Mr. Brown on this outstanding achievement.

Willie started driving for Boyd Bros. on July 1, 1990 and had been a loyal and dedicated employee over these last 24 years. He and his wife Doris Faye have been married for over 25 years now and have four children. The Brown’s currently reside in Valley, Alabama.

Boyd Bros. Transportation is proud to have Mr. Willie Brown as one of our drivers. To quote the governor’s proclamation,

“The Management of Boyd Transportation acknowledges what a valuable and irreplaceable person Willie Brown is. It takes a forward thinking driver who always drives with a clear head and both eyes attentive to the road to be able to reach the milestone Mr. Brown has reached.”

From all of us, Congratulations, Willie! Great Job!
